Verification of Digital Circuits for Communication

The DCAE department invites all interested ETTI students and teachers to the presentation of an Ixia industrial research project on the verification of network communication systems on chip. The presentation will take place on November 8th, between 3 and 5 PM, in the Infineon laboratory (ETTI building B). Octavian Radu, team leader on this project, will present and answer our questions. A summary of the presentation is found below.

IxVerify 1.0 – Closing the Verification Gap

Mentor Graphics integrates Ixia’s virtual edition test solution – IxNetwork Virtual Edition [1] – with the Veloce Emulation Platform [2] to accelerate the verification of complex networking chips. As a result, semiconductor and electronic system manufacturers have the ability to seamlessly integrate an Ixia virtual environment into an emulation-based verification flow, bringing the powerful advantages of emulation to the lab environment. This presentation will show how IxVerify fills the gap between pre-silicon and post-silicon testing, offering the ability to integrate an IXIA virtual environment into an emulation-based verification flow. This allows the re-use of traffic flow generation scripts for greater efficiency and improved debug, faster time-to-market, and gives design teams the ability to de-risk the challenges of complex chip designs. The presentation will disseminate the main concepts and results of IxVerify in order to stimulate continued research and development in the area of digital circuit verification and testing.

Octavian Radu leads the virtualization department in IXIA, and previously led the IXIA FPGA design team for 4 years. Before IXIA, Octavian worked in both hardware design and software development, beginning as a hardware design engineer in Bucharest, and continuing as a researcher on Speech Technologies at Nuance in Torino. Starting in 2011 Octavian also leads the IxNovation Center in IXIA Romania, whose goal is to strengthen the collaboration between IXIA and local universities on various research projects. He holds a MSc degree in Electronic Engineering.

Ixia provides testing, visibility, and security solutions, strengthening applications across physical and virtual networks for enterprises, service providers, and network equipment manufacturers. Ixia offers companies trusted environments in which to develop, deploy, and operate.

Mentor Graphics Corporation is a supplier of electronic design automation (EDA) tools, which include computer software and emulation hardware systems used to automate the design, analysis and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems, electronic hardware and embedded systems software in electronic systems and components.
